About Us

Hatched in September 2010, Sapsuckers has become a neighborhood favorite
for awesome hops & grub.

The press likes us, too:

  • We ended our first year as Newsday’s #1 Cheap Eats Restaurant of 2010
  • Our Alabama Sloppy Hammer was the #1 Handheld Sandwich of 2010
  • Our Mallet Burger is a Newsday Top Ten of 2013!

It’s hard to keep up with our rotating sixteen lines of craft beers…
all are small production & special, many are rare & extremely limited. In
addition to our draughts, is a bottle list of 40 selections of shapes,
sizes, flavors & abv’s. Each of these hand crafted beers are respected
much like wine & have their own place for your reading pleasure in our
Field Guide To Beer.

From the kitchen comes a gastro-pub style menu with the Antuzzi philosophy
in practice. Small farm raised meats, artisanal breads & seasonally local
produce comprise the ingredient list for each of our recipes. We blend
our own organic meats for our burgers, honor a polish family’s recipe for
authentic pierogies & hand cut our fries each morning.

Enjoy your hops & grub in a polished, warm pub environment:

  • Ebony-stained mahogany frame antiqued mirrors & vintage style lighting.
  • Audubon lithographs grace the walls underneath a hand patina copper tin ceiling.
  • Our granite tables were an amazing ebay find from the famous Chef Bouley’s bakery & steel bistro chairs are handmade in Burgundy.
  • Most impressive, though, would have to be our beer tower: a polished chrome work of art, custom made & imported from Germany.
